Students are faced with disappointment, unemployment, underemployment, and excessive student loan debt upon graduation day. Career readiness for the real world isn't possible when the student-to-counselor ratio is 500:1 and actionable alumni data isn't readily available for students or university staff.
Steppingblocks was founded first to produce skilled, confident, workforce-ready graduates and second to augment institutional success through data-driven tools.
The concept for Steppingblocks begins with only the coffee-stained drawing on the right, 5,000 alumni profiles and a mission to help students make data-driven decisions.
January 2017
The team moves into the Atlanta Tech Village and taps into a network of mentors, entrepreneurs and fellow data nerds to help develop the product and expand the team.
April 2018
Steppingblocks is awarded a Phase 1 grant from the National Science Foundation to help close the national skills gap in the field of Computer Science.
April 2019
Phase 2 SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation is awarded to Steppingblocks.
January 2020
Steppingblocks advances its machine learning capabilities to process over 100 million alumni profiles in seconds.
